I feel I’m being robbed of my identity as a woman

I feel I’m being robbed of my identity as a woman. I’m not transphobic – I truly believe people should be allowed to live as they want to, but not at the cost of others. Women have fought long and hard to be heard and now we’re not allowed to be called women in case it offends men that have decided to become women? I hate the term TERF and I’ve seen so much hate and threats of violence towards women who speak out.

I’ve tweeted a few times and I’ve spoken to my fiancé about it. I’m scared to be honest because I’ve seen the backlash other people have suffered from speaking up.

I spoke to my political party, I was ignored

I worry about long term consequences ; safeguards, protections in law changing, blurring of definitions.

I have entered into conversations that have usually become tense and intimidating, I spoke to my political party, I was ignored. Stood my ground but listened and tried to see the other sides point.

I’ve been made to feel like a bad person, called a bigot, intimidated and threatened online, often felt like I’m shouting into the wind and being mocked by people who use quite childish and nasty tactics. And men trying to bully and silence me. It can be scary. And exhausting.

This represents a huge problem for modern feminism unless we determine to move forward in solidarity with ALL women, cis AND trans

Because abuse of trans rights is abuse of human rights. The attempted imposition of hateful gender ideology by so-called ‘gender critics’ represents thinly-veiled bigotry and a sustained attack on scientific consensus, in defiance of all data, across multiple academic disciplines.

No structural basis has yet been established for discriminatory language and practices employed. This represents a huge problem for modern feminism unless we determine to move forward in solidarity with ALL women, cis AND trans.

I’ve created a social media platform for the exchange of ideas and support for Gender variant people of any stripe.

I engage with others whenever the subject is relevant, whether in person or online. I have contacted my MP to ask for urgent clarification of the government’s position on GRA reform.

I write to a variety of media outlets to engage with the substance of the discussion.

No negative consequences. Because most people find bigotry appalling and only have respect for those who resist it.

I tried to tell people the truth

Stop lying about why your contract was not renewed, we know the truth.

I tried to tell people the truth, Liar Maya.

I have been stalked on Twitter and spammed screenshots of a gruesome torture by a deranged TERF.

Those actions don’t belong in a decent humane society

Because I am a total clown who can’t keep my nasty bigoted views to myself.

Been a total knob to trans women all the time. Made up nonsense shite to create a climate of fear against one of the most vulnerable groups in society, and tried to masquerade it as an honourable crusade for human rights. I know you probably think that sounds absolutely mental, and those actions don’t belong in a decent humane society, but fuck you I’m going to do it anyway.

Yeah, some bloke in a wig absolutely rinsed me when I tried to sue my employer for sacking me because I wouldn’t stop slagging trans people off. It’s political correctness gone mad.

The struggle for trans men is different but caused by many of the same prejudices

It matters to me that we, as feminists, stand up for our trans sisters, and acknowledge that the struggle for trans men is different but caused by many of the same prejudices.  It matters because to do anything else would be to deny then the rights we take for granted.

I have donated to trans support fund raisers. I have regular conversations with people whose bigoted views are outdated and bigoted,  trying to teach them how to be compassionate,  which is often like trying to explain the difference between teal and aqua to someone who has been blind from birth.

I have been subjected to reams and reams of bigoted,  unresearched prejudice from people who refuse to extend kindness to people who are already struggling with dysphoria and systemic prejudice.  I will keep doing it,  though.

I’ve tried to show kindness to people who actually seem hurt or misguided about trans people

This matters to me because trans people are human beings who deserve compassion.

I’ve tried to show kindness to people who actually seem hurt or misguided about trans people.

Not really experienced any negative consequences, most people seem to think trans humans deserve rights just like everyone else.

Like cis women, I just want to go to the bathroom

Like cis women, I just want to go to the bathroom. To pee. Without being harassed. Without being scared for my life. Due to suicide and murder, black trans women have a shockingly low life expectancy. All trans people just want to be treated as people.

Your work, beliefs, and followers have made me want to kill myself. I tried to do it last week.

I don’t want to erase your womanhood, I want to stand by cis women and fight for reproductive justice, equal pay, and access to abortion. We’re fighting for the same things— freedom from fear.

If part of the fear is that trans women will share a bathroom with you, where would you prefer we go? Where would you like Laverne Cox to go pee? The men’s restroom? She is not biologically a woman, you are correct. No one is arguing against bio sex. But it doesn’t mean she’s not socialized and perceived as a woman, whether you object or not. Are we really comfortable saying that the only defining factor of womanhood is our genitals? That sounds really… handmaidens tale-ish.

Where would you like me to go, to do? I am perceived as a woman, I move through the world as a woman, I am now so sympathetic to what cis women experience; gender discrimination is awful!! People cut me off, don’t take my opinions seriously, and there is very little representation of women in legislation.

But, genuinely, I want to know: where would you like me to go pee? Where would you like a trans man, who looks like & lives as a man to go pee? In your bathroom? Isn’t that what you’re all scared of, men in your bathroom? Would you like businesses and governments to build a 3rd restroom? Unless, underneath all of this, you’d just like us to stop existing altogether. In which case, due to murder & suicide, you might get your wish.
